“World Kindness Day” – Pack meals for families in need

Written by:  Shay Spain-Austin, OSUBAS Student Rep

Kindness is a behavior that is marked as a pleasant disposition and a concern for others.

On Monday, Nov. 13, the OSU Black Alumni Society (OSUBAS) along with Athletics, Student Life, Alumni Association and other societies gave back and paid forward on World Kindness Day.  More than 600 volunteers, which included OSUBAS Alumni, students and other volunteers participated with The Pack Shack in packing over 200,000 meals in just two hours. The energy was high, it was crazy-fun and very impactful. Half of the meals were donated locally and the other half were donated to those affected by hurricanes.

Jahzeer Hibbert, a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Delta Omicron Chapter and on the e-board for Black Student Association, said “It was a great experience and I would absolutely do it again.”  Kristen Cole, OSUBAS Secretary, confirmed that they “Had a great time!” We look forward to always “being kind” and continuing acts of community service.
